A dosing funnel is intended to keep espresso grounds contained during distribution and tamping.
Confirmed that PLA plastic was safe for dry food contact (coffee grounds). It was found that PLA is non-toxic when dispensed through a stainless steel nozzle, but should stay clear of moisture as the layer grooves are porous.

First, a test fit ring was designed and printed to confirm tolerances and dimension compatibility with minimal material use.
Once a fit was established for the base, the upper was designed with principles of function and form in mind:
The curvature was intended to make a smooth aesthetic transition from the handle to the funnel.
The dimensions had to work within minimum width restrictions of the printer’s nozzle. Chamfers and fillets were added to smooth sharp edges with infinitely small width.
Aimed to balance small footprint with effective height for grounds containment.

The STL file was sliced in Bambu Lab’s printer software and exported to 3D-print.
